Audi Puts Its Horse in the EV Race with Announcement of e-tron Electric SUV

Auto makers are beginning to catch on to the benefits of electric vehicles. Across the board, manufacturers are exploring new avenues for electric vehicles.

And then, there's Audi. The German auto maker known for both premium design and sport-oriented performance has decided to put its own twist on the EV idea. Just recently, Audi announced an all-new model: the e-tron electric SUV.

On the surface, the e-tron looks much like any other Audi SUV with its prominent grille, large wheels, and sleek lines. Underneath, however, it's a different story.

The e-tron gets its power from two electric motors -- one positioned at each axle. This full-electric power means near-instant torque deliver. The result is an SUV that can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds. It's also ready to tow up to 4,000 pounds. Standard air suspension in the e-tron allows the driver to choose among five drive modes. Plus, Audi's ever-popular quattro all-wheel drive system ensures planted handling for the e-tron.

Alongside its compelling electric performance, the e-tron also offers the upscale trappings associated with Audi models. A plush cabin offers a range of amenities, from sound-proofed dual-pane windows to ventilated front seats.

Right now, the e-tron is slated for delivery to dealerships in spring of 2019. If you would like to learn more about this new model or discuss a pre-order, come chat with a member of our sales staff.
