These days, utility vehicles like SUVs and crossovers are the go-to for American shoppers—even when looking for a luxury option. But not every vehicle has the same abilities, and all certainly aren’t created equal. When you shop for an Audi, however, you have the choice of three exceptional utilities in the Q3, Q5, and Q7.

But while these three offerings will leave you wanting for nothing, it might be overwhelming to decide which one meets your needs best. Some like to start with size, of which the Q3 is the smallest, and the Q7 is the largest. Others, features and the availability of all-wheel drive. But if you’d like a more in-depth run-down, read on to find out what these utilities have on tap.

2018 Audi Q3

  • Class: Compact Luxury Crossover
  • Features: All-wheel drive, standard leather, panoramic sunroof, Audi MMI/Connect, 48.2 cu-ft max cargo.
  • Why Buy? Great cargo volume, standard luxury amenities and all-wheel drive, standard safety features, fun to drive.

The smallest and most accessibly-priced option, the Q3 competes among other compact luxury utilities with standard quattro all-wheel drive, leather upholstery, and a turbocharged engine with plentiful power. It can be had in two trim levels—Premium, and Premium Plus, and the options sheet is full of perks like on board WiFi, Google Earth navigation, and a Sport package.

Out on the road, drivers will find the Q3 quiet at speed, and responsive. Steering is well-weighted, and while this utility is no sport sedan, the performance feel does move the needle in that direction. The compulsory quattro system does more than keep you level in bad weather—it also keeps you stable on any road, at any time.

2018 Audi Q5

  • Class: Compact Luxury Crossover
  • Features: All-wheel drive, standard leather, panoramic sunroof, Audi MMI/Connect/Virtual Cockpit/pre sense basic and city, 60.4 cu-ft max cargo.
  • Why Buy? Most popular Audi model, state-of-the-art safety/convenience tech, spacious interior, standard luxury amenities, sporty driving experience.

Audi’s most popular vehicle worldwide is all-new this year, and it’s lost none of the gusto that’s made it so popular. It continues to check all the right utility boxes with excellent interior volume and furnishings, easy-to-use tech, and also manages to check luxury items competitors don’t match. It even comes with a rear-view camera and standard safety systems, as well as an options sheet with the likes of 4G LTE WiFi, and Virtual Cockpit.

A new turbocharged inline-four and standard quattro all-wheel drive are partially responsible for the comfortable, agile ride found on Q5 models. Those looking for more zest have the 354-hp SQ5 to enjoy, but most will enjoy the 252-hp this version has on tap. Confidence is the rule of the road all around, and with the brand’s Drive Select system, you can choose how you want this crossover to feel and respond.

2018 Audi Q7

  • Class: Full-Size Luxury SUV
  • Features: All-wheel drive, standard leather, panoramic sunroof, Audi MMI/Connect/Virtual Cockpit/pre sense basic and city, 71.6 cu-ft max cargo.
  • Why Buy? Intelligent state-of-the-art technology, 7,700 lbs. max towing with V6, seats seven, easy to maneuver in tight spaces, winning options.

Reviewers call the Q7 a class leader, and it’s not hard to see where they’re coming from. Three rows, state-of-the-art tech, superlative performance, and a solid, comfortable ride are all hallmarks of this full-size utility. It can be had in three trims—Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige—which brings goodies like a Bang & Olufsen sound system, Virtual Cockpit and Audi Connect, and an adaptive air suspension system that makes turns tighter, and bolsters comfort.

The Q7 is more family luxury utility than sports car, but you’ll find little to quibble with when it’s equipped with the 333-hp supercharged V6. Able to tow up to 7,700 lbs (best-in-class), it also makes for easy passing and merging. At speed, the cabin is quiet, but if you opt for some fun, the Q7 won’t leave you disappointed.
